Natasha Grey-Brookes is a prominent figure in St. Kitts and Nevis, known for her roles as a lawyer, community activist, philanthropist and politician. She is the wife of Charles Brookes and a proud mother of two, a son, Deshan and a daughter, Chartasya. Shanny as she is affectionately called is the Political Leader of the Peoples Action Movement one of the country’s leading political party. She holds an Upper Second Class Law Degree from the University of Huddersfield and she also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Legal Skills from City Law School in London. She is admitted to the Bar of England and Wales and the Bar of St. Christopher and Nevis. Failure has never been an option for this proud daughter of the soil.  A proud citizen of the lovely Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and a true success story coming from the heart of the East Basseterre Community.  If ever there was a life story to tell of humble beginnings it is that of the life of Natasha Grey-Brookes, the daughter of Beryl Grey and Merlin Powell. 

From birth Natasha has shown that she can overcome any obstacle and that she believes in life and is a true beacon of hope and this tiny baby blossomed into a toddler and started pre-school at the age of two.  Completing High School at the tender age of fifteen (15) years Shanny, ventured straight into the world of work.  Shanny evokes a sense of pride and confidence in whatever she does.  She has always shown devotion and commitment in any task that she carries out.   Becoming a young mother at the age of sixteen years (16) old did not deter her as she completely ignored the glass ceiling and she shattered it working through university whilst still raising a son and now she is one of Federation’s most sought after Attorney-at-Law. 

Shanny is a compassionate and caring individual who always shows a keen interest in the life of others and the path it progresses on. Her philanthropic efforts are highly noted as she has touched the lives of many individuals.  She is not perfect but strives for excellence and is a strong believer that those around her should always endeavor to excel in life. 

As a well-rounded individual who has been able to effectively interact with persons from different walks of life and have experienced the realities of life, Natasha Grey-Brookes is the ideal person to represent the affairs of any community but more particularly, the country. She is fearless and has often times defied the odds in the midst of naysayers. 

Her political career officially began on 18th  October 2021 when she was announced as the candidate for the People’s Action Movement for Constituency No. 1 and contested her first elections in August of 2022. She became the first Female Political Leader of any political party in St. Kitts in June of 2024. She is called to lead in the work of helping to ensure that people in her country live a good quality life.  She recognizes that she cannot do this alone and so she must work closely with all the people in all constituencies.  Shanny strongly believes that politics is about bringing people together, connecting them in some way, shape or form, building relationships and forming solid partnerships.  She intends to serve the entire East Basseterre community with distinction and give them true representation they can rely on.  Shanny is a very down to earth individual and just as she climbed the success ladder, she wants to see each and every one of her constituents do the same.
